Moscato
Whether you prefer it still, fortified or sparkling, moscato wine is loved by wine aficionados all over the world — especially those who prefer sweeter drinks. Made from frontignac grapes, also called muscat grapes, moscato has peach and orange blossom flavours that give it a sweet and fruity taste.
Although moscato originated in Italy in the 16th century, frontignac grapes grow and thrive all over the world, including France, Spain and, more recently, Australia. With our own range of award-winning wines, you can trust Millon Wines for our range of distinctive and delicious moscato.
Moscato wine from local vineyards
Boasting cooler climates and rugged hills, the Eden Valley makes for the ideal region for growing flavourful and fragrant moscato wine. While shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir and sauvignon blanc grape varietals were planted back in 1991, it wasn’t much later that frontignac grapes were introduced in 2001. Eden Valley’s higher altitude and heavier rainfall also contribute to the unique characteristics of our moscato.
Visually recognisable for its fun and playful bottle and balanced crisp and sweet palate, Millon Wines’ moscato wine can be enjoyed straight from the bottle, poured over ice or mixed in a cocktail. With aromas of musk and citrus fruits alongside underlying touches of honeysuckle, our moscato is truly one-of-a-kind.
Minimalistic Australian winemaking
Our winemaker, Angus Wardlaw, works to capture the terroir and essence of the landscape. Whether grown in the Barossa, Eden or Clare Valley, you can taste the different climate, soil and individual characteristics of the region in each bottle. From white to red and rosé, all Millon Wines are made from the highest quality grapes with a minimalistic approach.

FAQs
What is moscato?
Moscato is a sweeter-tasting wine made from frontignac, also called muscat, grapes. It is known for its fruity flavour and orange blossom, ripe pear and honeysuckle aromas. Moscato wine is lower in alcohol than white and red wines and generally has lower acidity levels due to its higher levels of residual sugar.
There are many different types of moscato wines, including sparkling, semi-sparkling, still, pink, red or black, and moscato dessert wine.
How long does moscato last?
Once opened, still moscato will last for between 3 and 5 days, while sparkling moscato wines should be consumed within 36 hours of opening.
What type of wine is moscato?
There are both pink and white moscato wine variations. Pink moscatos are classified as rosés while the white ones fall under the white wine category.
How long can moscato be stored?
Just like other still white wines, moscato should be consumed within 3 to 5 days of being opened. If you have opened a bottle of sparkling moscato wine, it can be stored for up to 36 hours before it goes flat.
